GURUNG:

We are said to be Mongolian origin. We are jolly loving people with agricultural as a main occupation. Beside agriculture it is popular for recruiting for Army (British, Indian, Nepalese and for going abroad for trying their fortune). Gurung are rich in cultural and tradition. There are many festivals that Gurung people celebrates . Among them Lohasor, Baishakh Purnima, Dashain, Tihar etc. Traditionally Gurung are said to be Buddhist but there are many Gurung who celebrate almost all festivals. Gurung people have a special house for the teenager which is called Rodhi where all the girls and boys of the village get togather to chat, sing, and dance and to shares worries and to be merry. Gurung are hard worker and also love to stay a carefree life.
